Achieving more together towards a safer South Wales

Volunteering (Citizens in Policing)

Citizens in policing is an umbrella term for the 500,000 plus volunteers who support the police either directly or indirectly nationally.

Within South Wales Police there are a range of exciting volunteering opportunities as a:

Special Constable
Police Support Volunteer
Police Student Volunteer
South Wales Police Band & Drums

There are also opportunities to support the Police and Crime Commissioner to hold the Force to account by independently checking how they care for the people in their custody and their working animals (dogs and horses), by volunteering for the:

Independent Custody Visiting Scheme
Animal Welfare Visiting Scheme

Volunteers can also get involved in community based initiatives to support South Wales Police, and help keep our communities safe. You can get involved through the following two schemes:

• Community Speedwatch
• Neighbourhood Watch
